Dubai Design Week is back for its 11th edition, running from 4 to 9 November 2025 across Dubai Design District (d3). The six-day festival will bring together creatives from across the region and beyond, celebrating design as a force for community, innovation, and cultural exchange.
Coinciding with the UAE’s official Year of Community, this year’s theme centres on the idea of Community which will be explored as more than just as a concept, but a lived experience shaped through design.
The 2025 festival will feature its most extensive programme yet, including exhibitions, large-scale installations, talks, workshops, and retail pop-ups, with key activations.
The Culturelist breaks down what to expect this November.
Designing for Connection: This Year’s Central Theme
Since launching in 2015, Dubai Design Week has grown into one of the region’s most influential cultural events, spotlighting voices from West Asia, South Asia, and the wider region. Under the theme of Community, the 2025 programme will be rooted in the idea that design can act as a social connector, bridging differences and fostering systems of care through shared spaces and experiences.
This ethos will be reflected in a variety of public installations, exhibitions, and talks that foreground sustainability, cultural identity, and accessibility.
Programme Highlights: From Urban Commissions to Abwab
Several signature initiatives return this year. Urban Commissions, an annual competition inviting proposals from global design studios, will focus on the theme of the Courtyard inviting designers to reimagine this traditional communal form for contemporary public life.
Abwab, meaning “doors” in Arabic, also returns with a broader geographic reach, welcoming submissions from across West, South, and East Asia, as well as Africa. The 2025 theme, In the Details challenges participants to create immersive environments that engage ornamental detail and cultural memory.
The Maker Space and outdoor installations will host hands-on workshops for all ages, encouraging experimentation across mediums. There will also be activations, food experiences, live performances, and a curated retail marketplace.
Downtown Design Returns with Global Powerhouses
Running from 5 - 9 November, Downtown Design remains the region’s leading platform for high-end contemporary design. Held at the d3 Waterfront Terrace, this year’s edition will showcase brands such as Lasvit, Kartell, Poltrona Frau, Vitra, and Venini, with newcomers including Roche Bobois and Stellar Works.
Highlights include internationally renowned designer Tom Dixon headlining The Forum’s talks programme in his first Dubai appearance. There will also be a solo exhibition by Draga & Aurel for Collectional, a showcase of interiors by Stephanie Coutas, and immersive experiences like the Solaire Lounge by Veuve Clicquot.
Also returning is the UAE Designer Exhibition, supported by Dubai Culture, which continues to evolve as a mentorship and visibility platform for emerging talent from across the Emirates.
Editions Art & Design Expands After Successful Launch
Following a strong debut in 2024, Editions will return from 6 - 9 November, with a VIP preview on the 5th. Dedicated to limited-edition art and design, featuring ceramics, prints, photography, works on paper, and design pieces from 50 regional and international exhibitors.
By offering accessible price points and a diversity of mediums, Editions is helping reshape collecting culture in the region.
New Architecture Showcase in Partnership with RIBA
Also on the agenda is the d3 Architecture Exhibition, organised in partnership with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). The show will explore how architectural practice can foster inclusion, resilience, and belonging in rapidly evolving urban landscapes.
As Dubai Design Week continues to scale up, it remains a vital platform for the creative industries in the Middle East one that reflects the region’s dynamic energy, cross-cultural dialogue, and growing influence on the global design stage.
